# On the Bonfire > A playful flip test for the small unwritten rules people live by. Write 2 to 6 rules ("always make the bed", "never leave a dish overnight") and what you fear would happen if you broke each one. The page draws a night bonfire and reads each rule's wording; a metered run flips each rule into its exact opposite, says what that flip would break using only your stated fear, and sorts it onto the bonfire, onto the woodpile, or trimmed to kindling with a smaller version. URL: https://on-the-bonfire.skillsafe.ai/ API: https://on-the-bonfire.skillsafe.ai/api.html ## What it does - Free, in the browser: the bonfire drawing (SVG and PNG downloads), the page's own read of each rule (no-exceptions words such as always, never, every; how tightly it is worded; whether a fear is named) and a lean toward the fire for any rule with no fear named. - Two scores per rule, whole numbers 0 to 3: breaks (what the flip would break, judged only from your stated fear) and costs (what keeping the rule costs, from its own words, plus 1 when it allows no exceptions). - Verdict, first match wins: burn (breaks is 0); keep (breaks is at least costs); trim (every other case, with a smaller rule that drops the no-exceptions words). - Metered task `flip` (gpt-terra): for each rule the flip, what it breaks, the two scores, the verdict, a smaller version when trimmed and a short reason; then one small first experiment and a tally. The page re-checks every verdict against the run's own scores. ## Input (task `flip`) All strings: task, count (digits), rules (numbered lines, "n. rule"), fears (numbered lines, "n. fear" or "n. none stated"), absolutes (numbered lines "n. word, word" found by the page, or "none"), optional retry_note. ## Output One JSON object: task, status (ok or declined), reason, rules[{n, rule, flip, what_breaks, breaks, costs, verdict, smaller, why}], first_flip, closing. ## Sources Built on the SkillSafe skill @obra/inversion-exercise: https://skillsafe.ai/skill/@obra/inversion-exercise ## Safety A light thinking aid, not professional advice. Rules about health or medicine, safety, the law, money owed, food or body weight, or anyone in your care are declined and never flipped.
